Chantilly - Scrapbowl 2008

Better late than never right! Chantilly was such a fun time - long day of traveling but worth it. Jeanette was kind enough to pick me up at the airport on Valentine's Day! It was late so I just went to the hotel - where my room was just across from the 'party' room... Donna, Kristina, Shimelle, Emily, Tia, and Margie were all hanging out. (Stacy and Chase had yet to arrive) So it was good to catch up and say hello before going to bed - we had to be ready to go at 9am the next day for our tour.

The tour that Marirosa and Ashlie scheduled for us was amazing - having never been to the Nations Capitol this was a REAL treat. I can't wait to go back when I have more time - at least a week.

I had no idea that the magnitude of this place would have such an emotional affect  on me. I was really taken off guard - we were in a hurry and wanted to get all the right pictures...

then when I arrived at the top of the stairs to see this - it hit me like a MAC truck. Remembering from history books and current happenings of all the events that took place in this very place. Amazing - really.

Then it was back to business! Stacy started with her keynote on Friday night - this is a new one for 2008 featuring this (work)book. Brand new from Compendium - a must add to your collection. Here is a pic of the group...

It's been awhile since I have had the opportunity to go to an actual things have changed in the last five years. People move in for the weekend!

And Stacy, bless her heart, she signed and signed and took pictures diligently all three days. I am always the bad guy (which is okay with me) that has to cut off the line. But she has to eat and sleep sometime people! If she had her way she would be up there for hours signing and taking pictures. She loves you all.

What I love most about taking these trips is being able to meet others that you have 'chatted' with through technology - here we are with Lisa Cohen.

And here is a great group of scrapbookers - good friends that share a common love and get together often. The "cabin girls"

Seven more Facts

Tagged by Jeanette again! Whom I had the pleasure of seeing again in Chantilly. We really could have been sisters separated at birth...As for the tag, here are the rules:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.

2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

So, here are the known and unknown:

1. I cannot watch the Animal Planet channel - it's too emotional
2. I like to watch PBR, car racing and America's Cup match racing (not in that order)
3. I have about 10 different perfumes - some I mix together
4. I have a standing monthly get together with two of my best friends
5. Every year I look forward to the red carpet show before the Oscars
6. My favorite alcoholic drink of the moment: Chopin and soda

Cocoa Daisy Night

Last Thursday I took a last minute trip down to Eugene, Oregon for a crafting night with these gals. It is about a two hour drive from my house - but I was ready to get away from my computer! I just wanted to do something fun. Hubby was out of town and the weather was actually beautiful for a drive south. Plus I invited Amber (the ribbon jar), who I have wanted to meet for some time.

The night was hosted by the amazing Jill - her house is gorgeous and no detail left undone. I, of course brought my camera but was too busy talking and crafting to take pictures. So the pictures I do have are not very good and I need to learn how to take better ones in low light or get one of these.

Tricia of Cocoa Daisy brought the crafty goodies and Ali provided the idea. I would recommend that you go to Tricia's site right now and purchase this kit. All of us who went to this event have put the project on our blogs so I am sure it is going to sell out! I have always enjoyed Cocoa Daisy kits - they are well put together and the 'education' behind it is so good. And I was introduced to a product that I have never seen before: Hambly Clearly Heavy overlays. And Ali showed us how to use the KI Memories lace paper!  Below are pictures of my completed album (yes, I have completed an album!) and go to Ali's to download the directions and check out Amber's.

I skipped the stitching because I was too lazy to bring out the sewing machine

March for Babies

My sister Ali will be participating in March for Babies this year. She believes in the March of Dimes mission to save babies. Please support her fundraising efforts by sponsoring her!  She is the Team Captain for iQ Credit Union in Vancouver, WA. (congrats to her new promotion as branch manager!)

The money she raises will help save premature and sick babies. Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies’ health today, and through March for Babies, the March of Dimes is funding important research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it.

Click here for her personal web page for donations.Contributing online is fast, easy and secure. You can
donate directly from her personal webpage with a credit/debit card or
PayPal. If you prefer, she can also accept cash or check. Just click the
appropriate box on her webpage.

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

With your support, there’s hope!

Scrapbowl 2008

Off to Chantilly, VA tomorrow and looking forward to this event for so many reasons! Jeanette will be taking care of me - picking me up, letting me crash at her place, taking me to the airport, etc. I am hoping that we have some time to just hang out too. I am also looking forward to meeting Shimelle - I have had the opportunity to take her Christmas journal class twice, still haven't done anything. But I actually enjoy receiving the email prompts! One of these years I am going to do it, yes I will. The rest of the line up is to die for too - I just wish that Stacy and I had a chance to take some of their classes!

I am off to spend some quality time with the hubby and cuddle with the furbabies.

California and Arizona

Cheryl Anderson you are right! (Check your mail box in the next week or so.)

I was in Southern California last week and tomorrow I leave for Arizona - first stop: Fort Huachuca south of Tucson. For those that don't know Huachuca is pronounced: "y - chu - ca". Doing on site event work takes me places I would probably never go! For those of you that guessed Hawaii - you were reading my mind. Especially, since I have been home it has been raining with snow mixed in and a balmy 37 degrees.

Okay I am off to spend some quality time with the hubby and furbabies!
