Weight Watcher Wednesday

Reality check:  you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight.  At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems.  You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life.  Losing weight is not a cure for life.

~Phillip C. McGraw, The Ultimate Weight Solution: The 7 Keys to Weight Loss Freedom, 2003

One pound down!

At first I was a little disappointed but then I gave myself a pep talk and realized that it's pretty damn good. After being snowed in, holidays and then vacation in Mexico... WAY TO GO! And I am glad that I did the detox to get back on track. It was very busy at Weight Watchers this morning - full house. I was excited to see so many people making the effort to get healthy. Our leader asked a good question to start off the meeting: "Is this your first time to Weight Watchers?" Surprisingly not very many hands were raised. Then she wanted to know "why did you leave?" Of course there were some pretty good answers:
  • mine: I thought I could do it on my own after I lost all the weight- over confidence
  • disappointed with very little results
  • moved
  • loss of job - income constraints
Even with these answers it seems that we all come back to what works. Weight Watchers has worked for me and it really does teach you a new 'lifestyle'. A lifestyle that is doable. Looking forward to getting healthy in 2009!
