Cleanse/Detox Day One

Are we all ready??!! Remember the goal is to make this as easy as possible for ourselves by continuing to eat (getting enough nutrients) as long as we are cutting out the foods/beverages that interfere with the cleanse.
  • ALWAYS check with your doctor before starting any program like this
  • Drink LOTS of water
  • This is not going to be easy or FUN... sorry!
Here are some other basic principles taken from Gweneth Paltrow's Detox:
  • Do deep breathing or gentle yoga
  • Take a couple of spoonfuls of extra virgin olive oil at night to help stimulate your liver to eliminate bile and keep it's circulation flowing
  • If your bowel movements get sluggish, you can accelerate things by drinking half a cup of castor oil or using a mild herbal laxative. (I prefer the later) Bowel elimination is paramount for correct detoxification
  • The skin gets rid of many toxins so it is important to sweat, either by exercising or taking a sauna.
  • Finally, make sure (or at least try) to eat whole organic foods, which have the best chance of having all the nutrients needed for liver and general detoxification.
I am going to be doing a combination of both the Gweneth Paltrow Detox (GPD) and the Advocare Herbal Cleanse (AHC). I will be using some of the recipes and timeline from the GPD.
So let's get started and on our way to welcoming the holidays feeling top-notch!
DAY ONE - today
Upon rising (empty stomach)
  • Spark (if you don't do Spark do the glass of room temperature lemon water)
  • Catalyst supplements
30 minutes later
  • Fiber drink (from AHC)
  • Meal Replacement shake (or smoothie recipe)
  • Herbal tea
  • Salad
Mid afternoon snack
  • Muscle Gain shake (or an all protein shake or something that is high in protein)
  • Catalyst supplements
  • Broccoli & Arugula soup 
  • Right before bed - Herbal Cleanse pack (AHC)

Remember the dietary guidlines -
  • Drink at least 8 glasses water a day - I know many of you can do 12
  • East eight to ten servings each day of vegetables and fruits. A serving is one cup of raw veggies or on-half cup of cooked veggies, or a meduim sized piece of fruit
  • Whole grains only - avoid processed starches such as white bread and white rice
  • Reduce your dietary fat intake to as low an amount as possible. The means reducing or eliminating the use of butter, margarine and high-fat salad dressings.
  • Avoid all fried foods
  • Be sure to avoid sugar - if you want to eat something sweet, reach for a piece of fresh fruit.
Those of you that do not have a particular cleanse/detox plan in place just follow along with us by sticking to those above guidelines!
